Extension projects are projects that extend the campus campus beyond what is normally expected. One type of extension project, to give an example, is junior companies: they are not foreseen in the curriculum of the courses or help with research, but serve to help the university in a third way.

 Extension generally works this way: it serves as a testing ground for students to experience what they have learned in class and to experience the technologies and knowledge formed by research. It is almost as a rule that the extension project has a more practical format than other university activities, focusing on achievement.

Still, as projects absolutely linked to universities, they need to be educational and community-based.
